Institutional support as a key element in generating stability

A company never walks alone. Tonelería Murúa needs to be in conversation with many actors and agents in order to be able to carry out work marked by excellence, quality and innovation.

One of these fundamental agents are the institutions. Elena Ceca, fourth generation of the family and current manager of Tonelería Murúa, recognises that “a fluid dialogue with the institutions is essential so that we can convey our concerns, projects and suggestions with the aim of continuing to grow”.

Furthermore, he affirms that at Tonelería Murúa “we feel completely supported by the institutions, as our voice is taken into consideration when it comes to putting forward ideas and development options”.

The opportunity of the 125th anniversary

Elena Ceca recognises that the meeting held last November was a clear demonstration of the importance of the institutional support that a company like Tonelería Murúa needs. Thus, Ceca wants to “thank once again the authorities who attended our birthday because it is very important for us to feel so supported”.

At this meeting, the president of the Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, who showed his regional support with his presence, also wanted to highlight the trajectory of the company, which is 125 years old: “Tonelería Murúa is a great example of the spirit of Riojan companies: family-run, with the ability to innovate and anticipate circumstances, being competitive and committed to quality as a hallmark of identity”.

The strength of collaboration

Elena Ceca also wished to acknowledge the willingness of the Federation of Companies of La Rioja (FER) with Tonelería Murúa. The FER, for its part, says it is “very proud to have a company with the tradition, strength and history of Tonelería Murúa as a partner”.

A company that, according to the FER, “is a model and an example for the rest of the companies due to all the processes of innovation, management and investment that it has maintained throughout its history”. Thus, the FER is very happy to celebrate all the history and heritage it has accumulated “supporting and backing its companies and, in general, the entire business fabric of La Rioja”.

The president of the FER, Jaime García-Calzada, visited the new facilities of Tonelería Murúa last January. During this visit, in which Elena Ceca showed the whole factory and explained the different spaces available, another meeting was arranged, which took place on 27 February.

On the occasion of the FER General Council meeting, some twenty members of the council visited the cooperage under the guidance of Elena Ceca. A day that underlines the idea of collaboration to guarantee a stable future for companies and the business fabric of La Rioja as a whole.

Joint effort

The FER also wanted to recognise Tonelería Murua’s great sensitivity to associations and its great contribution to them. A sensitivity that is exercised beyond the FER.

In addition to being a proud member of the Federation of Companies of La Rioja, Tonelería Murúa belongs to the Rioja Family Business Association (AREF) and the Rioja Wine Auxiliary Industry Association (Aux Rioja). It is also a member of the Plataforma Tecnológica del Vino (Wine Technology Platform) and is a member of the Club de Empresas Centenarias de La Rioja (Centenary Companies Club of La Rioja).

Real arguments that support the idea of seeking support among the actors in the same sector and institutional agents that can promote development scenarios for companies of the size and tradition of Tonelería Murúa.
